I want to upgrade my 1971 static belts to three point retractable.

I found a set in a very nice ’74 that I hacked out (see my gallery). I want to graft these into my car, which requires cutting into the sill. Has anyone attempted this? Does anyone know of any changes to the sill and floor pan between ’71 and ‘74?

    Thanks,
    Micah

    looks doable...:thumbs2:
can you just take the mounting plate and mount it to the inside of the '71 sill and cut out the holes to recess the seatbelt mec? this way you wouldn't have to cut the sill and graft in the complete piece.

Yes, only doing the plates and not the sill section.

Yes, already done and it was not cheap but they look great. I don't do anything H. A.

Only other issue I see is moving the upper attachment point forward. Going to Pick and Pull and cutting them out today.

I'm definitely subscribing to this, I'm kicking around the idea of doing something similar. The factory 2 piece lap/shoulder belt setup is a pain in the butt! Keep us updated with what you do!
