If I install braided stainless brake hoses on my front disc brakes will it improve my pedal feel ? My brakes work great just always seems to be a little low... They don't go to the floor or anything like that, I had them checked by a pro and was told this is as good as it gets...
Ken, maybe and adjustable rod to the M/C would help, you could raise your pedal height to match the clutch pedal then also.
I have the adjustable rod.. Height is fine just a lot of travel in the peddle... brakes work very well... would like less travel is all...lol...
Ok I see what you mean now, how old are the rubber lines down by the calipers? I only have about an inch and a half of travel on my pedal but all the rubber lines are new, even the one that T's off and goes to the rearend.
Especially if your stock lines have some age to them, yes, they will feel a little firmer. The braided lines will not expand like the rubber ones do under pressure.
All my rubber lines were installed new Two years ago... brakes feel the same now as they did then... I installed new pads this year because the old ones had a rattle...
If your rear brakes are on the "loose" side there will be increased pedal travel, be sure the auto adjusters are working... Also as mentioned rubber hoses tend to get a bit spongy after years of usage...
Not a good idea as it greatly increases the chances of hooking your toe under the pedal in a emergency situation...
I've found this to be the problem more than once - adjust your rear shoes and you should feel a difference
I have no chance of doing that on any vehicle I drive, my dang big ol' foot won't fit under any pedal! And if I ever got it under one it would take the Jaws of Life to get it out.
You can laugh if you like but even catching the sole of your shoe on the side of the pedal increases the chance you'll not get your foot on the pedal in time to get stopped... There's a reason brake and accelerator pedal are similar height...
Easy test for adjustment is to apply the E-Brake and then try your brakes. If your pedal comes up then the rear shoes need adjustment! I also have had problems with self adjusters! It's best to adjust your shoes manually!
