semi shorterd out. The tire shop sadly shoved there foot into a electrical harness after they were done with the car and shorted a wire inside the d4ab-14a554-a2d connector.

the ignition is now only sometimes work. yet i read here that it is only for the seat belt warning system yet mine also seems to be controlling the cars ignoition also.

when I removed the box the car will not sometimes start as before but will not start at all? the electrical schematics I have do not see to show the seat belt system being tied to the ignition system?

    any help?

so i can cap ever wire in that harness?

by looking at the wiring diagram if I jump the bypass the only trouble will be the transmission starting bypass will not happen right?

the reason I ask is when the module messed up it was the connectors between the box and the wiring harness shorted out (corroded?) and some of them are probably messed up.

no fuses blew but i do not want to leave a open wiring harness plug open just waiting for a problem to occur. plus I can then have less wires in the car as some seats I think are already bypassed. well I know the drivers seat is as its not stock.

hope what I said makes sense

I removed the yellow box on my '74 and zip tied the harness connector out of the way under the dash. I also removed the harness going to the seats. The by-pass switch on the fender apron was also removed and the wires at the connector was spliced back together.

My predicition is they removed that button switch
    kept the seatbelt switch
when they plug shorted out it made it not work

and now I need to jumper two wires in the seat belt interlock, now to decide which two to jump :)

The over-ride switch is located between the washer bottle and shock tower. It should have a red button on top

well that does not exist for me.
but I jumped two wires together that only have power when the starter is turned over so well now it works :)

all because the seat belt relay switch got fried.
fyi my colors are wrong compared to the wiring diagrams.

    atleast it works

now back to massage the back wheel wells to fit the 255/70-r15 tires on.

Final report. I wired the wire from 8 and 9 together on the plug and that does the same thing as the bypass switch.

So for anyone that has this problem on a 1974 Comet/Maverick this is another way to solve the problem and you can completely abandon the plug, sensors etc....
