Chug, Yep...it'll fit. But it might not be worth the hassle you are probably going to get from the die-hard ford guys who reside on this board! But, it can be done...just depends on the time, money, and fabrication you are willing to put into it. Good Luck, and don't take anything personally that some of these folks may say. Later
i don't see that he said chevy. remember ford has a 400 also. by the way, welcome to the board. don't be afraid to ask questions. we all learn by reading the answers. anything that big probably needs to have the shock towers modified or removed. a 302 stroked to 331 or 347 is probably the best way to go without modifying anything. a 351 stroked to 406 or even bigger is a good way to go if you want a minimum of mods to the suspension. but if you are going that way the suspension needs to be upgraded to handle it also. good luck.
Oh yes the 400 M (duh ) . Chuggernaught, do you have a welder or know some one that does ? You`r prolly gonna need to weld in a mustang II (or pinto) front suspension . As don graham said you`r best bet would be a stroked 302 or 351 W engin so you wouldn`t need to do so much cutting and welding.
Thanks guys, Yes I meant the Ford. I'm pretty Die hard myself. My first car was a 80 Fairmont Wagon with a straight 6. I loved it and always stuck with ford since. The reason I asked about the 400 is because I read that it is the longest small block and delivers a truck load of low end torque, and I thought I'd try to modify it and give it a little upper end torque but still keep the low end for doing usefull stuff like pulling a small trailer. I sort of like to multi task with my vehicles, and I just love the way a Mav looks. oh yeah, and I was wondering what the M stands for with the 400 and 351?
Modified. And there is not near as many good hipo parts available for this motor as some of the other ones. I"ll bet you can do alot more with a lot less money by going to the 302 or 351W.
welcome......I agree, a strong 302 or W will give you all you would want and at a fraction of the cost.
