Ok I currently own a 1974 econoline and two years ago sold my 1966 Mustang Covertible. It was a complete restore I loved it and no I don't want to talk about it. Anyway I've been looking for a new project to make a street sleeper out of. I've never owned a really quick car but have always wanted to. My Mustang was too original to screw with so I left it bone stock (289 2BBl, ac, power top). Today I came across a 1973 Maverick. It is super straight. It has 3 speed on the floor, AC, 200 I6, orange with Black interior. It is complete and with the exeption of faded original paint and bad seats it is as nice a complete original car as could be found. It runs but the carb is toast. Anyway 400 bucks and it could be mine. I guess my question is how much work to plop in a V8 and a 4 or five speed? It has moonie hubcaps and would be a great sleeper. Any help with actual build cost figures would be much appreciated.

Not a real hard swap. You state trans on floor, I take it to be a manual. So you already have pedals. Depending on what you want, but if buying salvage yard stuff you could probably get this done, performing the work yourself for $2500.00 and up.

yea its a stick shift. I honestly have to say being a stang guy I looked down my nose a bit a mavs but this one with the moonies just looked cool. It could be driven right now but it needs a carb really bad. Imagine its the same carb that on my 300 I6 in my van. I had to replace that too.
