Has anyone here ever looked at Granada/Monarch frame stands and Trans mounts for V8 conversions for our cars?

If so ... what did you find?

Chassis are supposed to be a continuation of ours ...

Partially answered my own question today ...

I asked because I knew I was going to see a Granada ... the trans mount is different ... one side jogs a bit back, so definitely not swap material.

This car also had a 6 in it, so no way to compare it to a V8 Mav in the yard.

Check it for a 9 inch rear end. Both that I have found were 6 cyl cars.

It had that weeny rear axle with the rear cover.

Someone had also grabbed just the driver side spindle ... grrrr.

    thanks for the diagram Jeff.

The mounts do look different. Still might be useful to get a better look at the Frame/motor mounts.

That tranny mount is wrong though for a Mav. The drawing of it doesn't show the extra twist in it as much as the smaller diagram showing the frame ... driver side is set back.

V8 Granada trans cross member is the same as a Maverick V8 one, or at least the 77 Granada one that I had was. I posted comparo pics one time, probably gone by now. Seems like the e brake might have mounted a bracket on the Granada, but design and size were otherwise the same.
Don't know about a six cyl Granda cross member, it may be different like the Maverick one is.

Good info... thanks for posting. I'll have to make it a point to look further if I find a V8 Granada out there. The e-brake cable mounted to the trans crossmember that I just pulled from that nice 77 Mav I just got a bunch of stuff off of too, so might be the same exact part. Odd that the 6 trans member that I looked at jogged ... if I go back, I will look at how it all looks again and see the frame member too. Maybe that is all removable.

The way things have been around here, I am starting to see some old cars shake loose again and hit the yards in the past couple years, after a long drought. They tend to survive pretty well around here, but I guess reality of if they can do anything with the cars finally hits.

So can you use the Granada towers at all? I am going to pull a set out of the wrecking yard just in case...

A lot of the Granadas and Monarchs that I have seen in the woods and junkyards have had the double-hump cross members, even in a couple of 6-cyl cars.

The motor mounts were nowhere close but I did score the trans crossmember. :)

I apologize, I meant the stands.
