Thought I had found my next Comet GT. Earl Banham and I went and looked at it and what a waste.....rust and poor workmanship in the past. Wanted $6000 probably $1500 car at best. I'll just continue looking...

    73 Grabber,
I bought Toms Comet and his Maverick back in Feb 2012. Having fun with both. I replaced the interior of the Comet, repaired the seat frames, new foams and vinyl up front and had the back seat reupholstered. New Cragers on 15 inch BFG tires, moved the carb and manifold and headers from the Maverick to the Comet, added flowmasters, rebuilt the front end and power steering.

The Maverick has been in the body shop for one year now. The guy does great work but only does restoration work when he has the time. Lots of big plans for the Maverick! I'll be selling the Comet once the Maverick is completed.

Come see them Tom. I'll give you the tour.

    BOB in Acworth

Never know....always a possibility. But he is doing show quality resto on Maverick and sounds like quite a while before it will be done. Just wanting something to drive and go to cruise ins while I restore my 67 Fairlane GT. S-code 390 hipo/toploader 4 speed car, but going back with 428/top loader 4 speed.

I'd seen this same car here on craigslist, I actually posted it up in the FYI section because initially I thought it might be a Bearcat. But after looking at the pics a little closer you can tell it isn't. Too bad it isn't as nice as you'd hoped.

Its worse than you can imagine. Opened the trunk and tape covering all the rust an rear quarted sprayed full of exspandable foam....noise reduction he claimed, and trunk wet where he sprayed car off with hose before we arr8ved.

I have some of that foam in certain locations too. Made my rear qtrs feel and sound solid. Rust is another story..

Maybe but most body panels showed signs of rust. Nice hood and gt scoop though....high back buckets so some good parts.....from what I saw it good chance its a true gt except not a gt grill. Car actually had good cowl and pans for body panels to be so bad. Trunk is coming in at right rear corner of back glass so sure alot of work needed there.
