Soo I did some upgrades over the summer and now Im finally getting to drive my car again and now I ive got some tuning issues. Expected this.
    Car- 1977 maverick V8
    Adds- Edelbrock performer intake manifold
    Holley Four barrel carb
Straight pipe dual exhaust (No mufflers & pipes not connected)
So my issue is that when I drive the vehicle is kinda, poopy, for lack of better terms and when under load it pulsates. I belive the issue lies within the curb idle, dizzy position, and/or idle mixture. I think my idle mixture is a little too rich too. I can smell the gas fumes. Im not sure of that is because of the exhaust or its richness, or maybe a combination of the two. My vacuum psi is at 20 when in neutral and when I shift into gear its at about 12. Any ideas as to what I should do or where I should start.

Holley has some really good videos on youtube for tuning their carbs.

You say you have straight pipes............do you have headers and then straight pipes or do you have the stock exhaust and then straight pipes?
    Where do the pipes end?
What have you set the timing at?
Have you adjusted the carb since you put it on the engine and is the carb new or used and what size is it............600cfm, 700cfm and does it have a manual choke or electric choke?
If you can smell gas my guess would be the carb is not adjusted correctly. Have you taken the plugs out to look at them and are they new or used?
Is the motor stock except for the carb and intake?
Sorry for all of the questions, just trying to get an idea of what you got.
All of the symptoms you mention point to the carb..............as someone else mentioned, Holley has some good pointers on their site on tuning the carb.

Sorry i have been busy. I ended up using the holly videos in order to tune the carb. But Now I have a new issue being that my idle runs high. Is there a way for me to decrease idle speed other than just loosening my idle curb speed screw?

    Stock exhaust then straight pipes.
My pipes end right before my rear axle.

carb has now been adjusted, it is 600 cfm, and manual choke.
    plugs are new.
motor is stock except for carb and intake
I think i have answered ally our questions lol

No that's what it's there for...

BTW you're not really loosing or tightening the adjustment, it's just a screw that moves in or out, tension is provided by the spring around it...

You should time it before messing with the carb any further as it might have an effect on the idle. Didn't those Holley videos mention that? Timing should be the first order of business once you get it running....

Set your timeing...Check to make sure the throttle cable isnt actually holding the throttle open at idle.(do this before you do anything else) Also, with the car not running make sure the throttle opens all the way and closes all the way when you step on the gas pedal.
