I have a 72 comet gt that the body is shot but everything else is fine. I also have a 74 comet that the body is great but the motor is bad. My question is will all the parts on the 72 swap right onto the 74? I already planned on doing the small bumper conversion to the 74. I want to use the 74's body to rebuild the 72 gt. Also does anybody know what a 1972 comet gt is worth? I was told my car is the only comet gt in york county. If I was told wrong please let me know. I would love to know there is more 72 comet gt's around york so I can get help on restoring mine. :D My plans are to do a twin turbo, 5 or 6 spd, 9" rear comet gt that can hang corners with the best of them. any help would be great thanks.

well, I have the nose from a 77 mav on a 71, bolted right up, don't see why a comet would be different, same car minus the hood, grille, and front bumper I think

Parts will swap-have a ball. Your fenders are different-you will figure that out
when you start taking them apart. The door handles/armrests/pulls are in a
different location. The '74 should have a glove compartment while the other
car has a tray under the dash.

IF your '72 was a 6 cyl. car from the factory, it may be a 4 lug axle car.
The '74 will be 5 lug, all Comets and Mavericks were 5 lug from '73 on.

now, let me get this straight, the body on the 74 is good, and the body on the 72 is shot? Swap the drivetrain and make the 74 a 72 IE, change the bumpers and such

Thanks for the help. (y) Both of my cars are original v8, auto, 5 lug cars. The 74 has the shifter on the column while the 72 gt has the shifter on the floor. I guess I have to cut the tranny tunnel to install the t5 shifter on the 74 since there isn't any hole there. I bought the 74 from ebay. Let me see if I can find the web address of the previous owners website. I spent $500 to get the 72 GT :slap: and $360 to get the 74  . I'll have to post the web address later ebay isn't working right now.

I found the website. I hope this works. Let me know if it doesn't. This is my 74 comet I bought but it is the previous owner's website. http://mysite.verizon.net/vze4dm9t
