The old black rust bucket 1973 Maverick I had was in the local Pick N Pull, I was just looking and spotted a trunk lid with a Grabber spoiler about 6 cars down a row (funny how those spoilers can catch your eye when the trunk lid is open) I got excited at first, then as I got closer I saw it was the old black one :( went ahead and looked it over, it's all there but the gas tank was gone, had written in paint pen on the side "remove gas tank and bring to office" when I asked about the tank the guy told me a lady bought it for her 1975 Maverick :hmmm: I went ahead and grabbed the spoiler off of it and the instrument cluster as it has white face gauges in it already.

Nope it was the rusted out black one I bought for $400.00 and sold for $600.00 and a 10HP Evinrude outboard, I don't know why the dude sold it to the pick n pull, I would have given him $200.00 for it lol, any how I now have a extra spoiler and instrument cluster, don't need either one just didn't want to see them go to scrap/crap.

I think you've now made out on that car pretty good. 10hp evinrude is a pretty nice motor.

I think ours was a late 70s, it was a lot more reliable then the newer electric trolling motor I had on my boat. The one time I went out without the evinrude the darn troller motor quit 20 feet from the dock and I had to jump out and swim my 14 footer back to the launch ramp. Didn't think I'd need the Evinrude just for a couple hours on the lake. I don't really miss that boat though, one year the trailer sank about a foot into the mud in my backyard and I couldn't get it unstuck, so when we lost the house I just left it back there...

I wish I could find a grabber spoiler at the junkyard.

I hear ya, it was a shock to me when I saw it, this car has such a strong running 250 I6 and great shifting c-4 I would have loved to had it just for those.

Yeah I did Frank, but what do you actually think Pick N Pull paid him for the car? I would bet it was less than $200.00 and I would have given him the $200.00 just to have the tranny and engine back, though I don't need them.

Local junkyard is currently paying $400 for any car with motor, tranny and title. They have very few pre 1990 vehicles and when they do come in they get picked over pretty quick and are usually sent to the crusher within two months.

Then you guys up North are getting better money than we can down here, last quote I got from Pick N Pull on a 1990 Mazda 626 was $160.00 for a complete car right down to the battery, and that was not long ago.
And yes I had the title.

I usually take em straight to the crusher, they pay way better than the pick-n-pull. For example when I was trying to get rid of my Bronco PNP offered me 185, the cash for cars guys offered 300 and that was complete. I took off the entire front clip and engine/transmission/xfer case and sold it at the metal scrapper for ~400. Kept a few other bits and bobs and the wheels and tires. The '71 went to a cash for cars guy, I saw him post it on craigs list for parting out, but it wasn't on there for long either.
