Has anyone here ever built a 327? If so how did it perform?

Commonly know as a 331. Bore is 4.00 and stroke is 3.250 to give you 327 cubic inches. Most engines are overbored to 4.030 which makes it a 331.

I built one last winter using an 86 roller block, trick Flow heads, small Lunati cam, all forged bottom end, etc. It made 335hp @ 6000rpm and 375 ft. Lbs of torque.

Mine is not a big power engine but they can be built to make 450 to 500 hp with boost or spray and probably more.

Some folks like the 331 but most prefer the 347 because it cost the same as a 331 to build plus it makes more power and torque.

Only reason I built a 331 is I bought an unused Scat kit at a swap meet for $600.00, too cheap to pass up. Oh yeah it also came with a new Fidanza aluminum flywheel which retails for about $390 bucks.
