Had my 72 since I was 18 sooo about two and a half years now. Since Im the third owner its had the straight six, a 302, and the 351 w that I put in. Think I want bucket seats now so I got some out of an 89 mustang but they wont fit. Any tips to make them fit?

Please, describe how they are not fitting?

They won't attach to the tracks? They won't fit due to the tunnel clearance?

Need a bit more information to help.

    :Welcome:to the site!!!!!

You need a set of Maverick seat tracks, and you will have to drill/tap a set of holes in the rear of the 89 Mustang seats so the tracks will bolt to it..... I just had to do this myself for my 86 Mustang seats.....

If you have to drill holes in the sheet metal floor to locate the Stang seats, you would be wise to weld in some flat steel plates to reinforce the floor for the new track bolt locations :tiphat:

I had to modify the track-to-seat bolting using flat steel when I used Procar seats on my 1990 Jeep Cherokee to avoid drilling additional holes in the floorboards. It made the seats sit just a little higher, but it was fine.

Another obstacle was the width of the Procars; I had to have them sit higher to clear the tunnel, especially on the driver's side.

I have seats from a 2005 GT and although they look fine besides a little stained, I will have them re-foamed and leather covered to go in the Maverick. I intend to do as I did with the Cherokee by using the factory Maverick tracks. Will share the modification experience when I move on this aspect, if no one else has.
