So i thought i was doing amazing, grill and stoneguard now in..new tranny lines bent to clear the valence..well i went to put the bumper on and the holes dont line up..did some searching and found 1 person drilled the frame for new holes, is this the best method or should i just drill the bumper brackets? if so does anyone have the measurements to make my life a little easier?
if there is any other methods, i got open ears, thanks!

I drilled the frame. Bumper bracket cost too much money to drill a hole in them.

they really cost a fair bit..? i doubt i'd ever get rid of them though.
also, what did you do once you drilled them? the factory holes have nuts welded inside. or are tapped

I drilled all the way through the frame rail and stuck a lock washer and nut on the back side.

Why would the holes be drilled differently? Is this part of a bumper conversion? :hmmm:

Yes I'm doing a conversion from a 74 big bumpers comet to the maverick bumper off a '72, I had a custom bumper on it last year with brackets I made.. So this came as a shock because I thought it was supposed to bolt straight on, apparently not. So ill have to stare at it after work today and hopefully get it on there so the valence can go on... These are the last things needed before I drive.

The rear hole is already there. I don't remember if I had to finish drilling it all the way through or not. I did have to drill the hole toward the front for the bracket.

its a no brainer drill the frame. its not what came factory so not everything is going to be in the right place so whats the answer? make it work the best way possible and thats drill the frame NOT the brackets.
if you drill the brackets your taking strength away from the brackets theres not alot of metal there. drilling small holes in the frame big enough to fit a bolts through it wont hurt a thing.

Ok so I'll drill the frame wheb I get home from work :) how long do the bolts need to be? I got a bunch at home but not sure if long enough.. Gotta make a stop for a fuel line fitting on the way home.. So may aswell grab some nuts/bolts.

Got home, measured the size.. Went back to the parts store ad nothing that size in stock...fun times.
