Is anyone from the East Coast going to this carshow??? July 11-14, 2013... http://www.atlanticnationals.com/ MY car won't be ready, but I still hope to see at least some Mavericks/Comets.
I got up to the car show on Saturday. I saw three Mavericks and one Comet: 1974 Grabber. I think this was for sale in Ontario within the last year? Now has NB Plates "GRABS". Interior. A very nice and clean 72 LDO, although it's missing the trim: LDO Interior. Later on, we sat on the main drag and watched the cars roll by for about three hours or so. A 1970 Maverick. A 1977 Maverick that originally lived only blocks away from my childhood home. It was one of the first Mavericks I ever saw in person when I was in elementary school Still sporting the noisy gear drive set-up that was on it years ago!
Great to see some good looking Mavericks in Canada. Thanks for sharing your pictures. I am sure the show is still happening today. Later about 3.00 PM they have the draw for the 1948 Ford "hot rod" turnkey car give away.
The white and green one came from around here, I tried to buy it in the 90's....the owner finally traded it in on a Focus....
Those are the factory buckets. If its the same car, I first saw it in the early 90's, and talked to the owner, a unpleasant old lady...since my 74 was the matching car from the 74 sales brochure...from time to time I'd see them around...then sometime in the early 2000's she called me while we were on vacation, I called her back once we got home, and went over to see her. I offered her 3 grand on the spot, and she told me shed drive in it into the ground, then sell it to me...which was crazy..then shortly after that, I got a call from the Ford dealer in Strathroy Ont., and they had taken the car in on trade, and they'd take 5 grand...I turned it down, then the car disappeared ...then showed up again on Kijiji a year or so ago, I had emailed the seller and asked if it was the same car, and it was.
A nice 70 from last weeks nationals. Picture taken in front of the hotel room. I don't think it was leaking out the overflow, 6 cyl mavericks don't have cooling problems, more likely the stain is from a mustang!
Thanks for posting that Kevin! And I suppose the leaky Mustang was a black 66 fastback??? I can't wait til next years Nationals. We are going to ROCK the Mavericks there!!! It was great to finally meet you and Maurice!
Hi Paul, It was good to meet you as well. I'm not sure where the leak originated. it wasn't mine. I just assumed a 70 6 cyl car would not have any cooling issues. But I do know my small bumper 6cyl car seems to run almost too cool. Even in the summer time the car doesn't come up to operating temp on the highway. It does in heavy traffic so I can assume the thermostat is working properly. It's almost as if the small bumper valance directs too much air to the rad. I didn't have that problem with the big bumpers. I don't think that's reason enough to switch back though!
