Made it back, for what will be the last time this year. Had to pickup my Mustang high back deluxe seats. When I pulled into the yard, he was just bringing the car up to get the seats out for me. That is them in the flying 73 Mustang Grande [IMG]

Next 2 pics show a late 1970 Maverick buried between rows. The license plates expired in 1978, to give you an idea how long it has sat there. I will be tearing into this one in spring.

Other pictures show a couple of Galaxy's and also a nice 57 Ford wagon that has some of the trim on it that I picked up for Dennis.

On a sad note - they have been crushing more cars lately then I have ever seen before. Hopefully they will stay in the Chebby section [IMG]

    Some advice:

    Don't overlook those Pintos/Bobcats!

Alot of those came with 3.40 and 3.55 8" rears. If it has an 8" rear, the gear is low.
You don't want the whole rear, just the chunk. There would be a market for those, or you could take them to a swap meet for trading material. Rarely, you will find a limited slip diff in one... V6 Bobcats I think is a common place for those.
Bobcat tail lights are always sought after by someone.
Pinto tail lights interchange with the Mav's, so a flawless one would be of interest to alot of folks if you find one.
If you find a 57 Ford out there with the rear still in it, that is a narrow 9" that can be easily converted to your Mav.
You probably already know to check Granada/Monarchs for a 9" rear. Late I6 cars seem to be the best spot to find one.
Happy hunting, I envy you, a good junkyard is hard to find nowadays.

One of the local yards I frequently go to crushed most the pre 80 stuff. I had 6-7 mavericks to choose from and could get all kinds of parts for many late 60s and all 70s cars but I understand scrap metal getting a good price and China is buying it up. Sucks that our sources of parts getting taken by CHINA. I wish I would have know that they were going to do that because I lost a lot that I passed over because of lack of funds and time. I would have borrowed to get some of it now.

    Yep...

    Drop out chunk= 8" rear

Rear cover= NOT an 8" rear

A quick guide to what you should find when you run across an 8" rear in a Pinto...

    A/C equipped= 3.55
    No A/C= 3.40
    V-6= 3.40 (possible limited slip)
They all are after 67 of course, so they all have the "HD" case.
They are 28 spline, but the housings, bearings, axles, are all light duty... 4 lug.

If memory serves, an auto equipped non-A/C car was available with the 3.55 at one point in time because the car was such a slug.
