Factory sport mirrors look the best on Mavericks. They also come in handy if you're actually gonna drive the car.

My neck don't turn as far as it used to. Mirrors are a must...and required in some states. (y)

Guess maybe I'm just still young enough to leave them off lol! You guys do make good point though about turning around haha.

I've been stopped a few times for no mirrors but no tickets! Guess I'll put them on someday based off what comes first, a ticket or old age :D

You'll be old before you know it. It really "sneaks up" on you. Trust me on this.

Only if it came standard equipment. My '60 this was a dealer option and not required by Federal law. The Maverick came factory with outside mirror so by removing the outside mirror will be breaking the U.S. Federal and Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard

    I removed my passenger mirror.

For some reason, my mirrors did not match. Probably my wife's great grandmother tore it off hitting a garage sale or something, and it was replaced with whatever they had access to.

One had a longer "rocket" base on the bottom, which I liked better, so I moved it to the driver side and filled the holes on the passenger side.

That small passenger mirror was nearly worthless...

Pics of the car soon after I got it home...you can see the longer base on the passenger side. Also thinner in profile, and more "sleek" looking. So I kept that one.

1970 drag car,no mirrors except rear view and the holes are filled on the doors, hole for antenna filled,no side marker lights.Welded plates in and filled,I believe once the car is painted it`s going to look pretty slick, won`t be a street car anymore.

I dont like the mirrors on my comet either but Im going to have to put some anyways not because the law says so. I could care less about that. it would only be a fix it ticket and I would put them on with double sided tape to hold them on long enough to get it signed off then pay the $20 and throw the mirrors in the back seat
BUT I cant see an dang thing out the back window. and my neck doesnt turn that far
heres a shot of my car as you can see its not finished but you get the idea as to where Im headed with it

    Scooper,

A lot of cars up uptil the mid-70s came without a passenger side mirror.
My Comet originally just had the chrome driver side mirror. Nothing on the passenger side, and it was a fairly well-optioned car.

That odd mirror on your passenger door was probably added after it left the dealership. It was common to buy an aftermarket add-on mirror at auto parts stores, and even K-Mart, etc.

The right/pass side mirrors on these cars are pretty much usless cept for backing in my garage -- IMO. I had a 73 Galaxie LTD Brogham w/ the pass side mirror which was somewhat better, cuz it was larger for one thing. I can't recall if it was remote operated. Non-remote pass mirrors are pretty much usless IMO.
Mirrors of the last 15yrs or so w/ the convex "wider view", remote operation are useful to a much greater degree. I don't trust pass side mirrors when going to change lanes; I always glance to my right - has saved me many times frm possible accidents. I wud never remove the drivers side mirror whether it was lawful or not.

I don't like the mirrors not because of the looks of them but rather because They're too small and rendered useless to me. I'm changing them for bigger ones that I can actually use.
