Cant seem to find where to add brake fluid on myav. 72 four door straight 6. My brakes went out today. So I need to find a way to check out tue fluid before gettin new brakes
the master cyl. is located under the hood, on the driver side firewall. it's next to the inside of the fender (under my hands).
The only thing I could find is towards the frontbof the car. I didnt see anything on the firewall tht brake fluid could be added too
Ok I have a metal resorvior however you spell it . Ive read you have to pop the metal top off to check your fluid. My master cylinder has a var going long ways across it preventing it from gettin pulled iff. Any suggestions?
stick a screw driver under that bar ans pry it to one side it will slip off then remove the cap fill then put the cap back on then pull the bar back in place with your fingers or pry back with a screw driver
If you add a lot of fluid, chances are the gasket on the cap will be sticking out. If so, push it back down flat before you put the cap back on.
Nvm lol I figured out and my thing was pretty much empty. My cap doesnt say what kinda brake fluid tp get. I have a 4 door sedan maverick straight 6. Pretty sure 3.3l not hundred percent tho
If ur fluid is that low; I suggest u look under the car at the backside of each wheel and see if they have fluid/wet spots on the whl plates. If so, u probably have a wheel cylinder leaking. Once u fill the master and stop a few times and the pedal is spongy or goes to the floor - ur probably in for some major brake work.
