Oh brother...I was cleaning the tank pickup/sending unit and broke the piece at the end of the pickup that hold the filter sock. Now what?

My sock was shot. I took it off and put a inline filter before the fuel pump. If you broke it real short you could extend it with a tube or hose, id think.

That looks like the end of the sock filter that broke off. That whole piece including the other matching black end will slide off the pickup tube. Look closely and you can see where the inner part of the socket filter is flared to slide over the tube.

I found this complete new sending unit on ebay for $27.95 + $9.95 shipping. It's for a '64-68 Mustang, which is the one that I have on my '75 Maverick. In the meanwhile, you can put a piece of fuel line on the end of the pick-up tube. Just make sure that you have a filter before your fuel pump until you get the new sending unit in place, unless you are sure of the cleanliness of your fuel tank. http://www.ebay.com/itm/65-68-MUSTA...ord|Model:Mustang&vxp=mtr&hash=item5d31445e3f

Where can you purchase a new pick up tube. My maverick has been stalling and its hard to start and real jumpy while driving. Im about to replace the fuel filter but I think it could be the pick up tube as well

I know you can purchase new sock filters at Melvin's Classic Ford Parts so I assume they are available from other places as well.....all they needed to know from me was the diameter of the pick-up tube.
