There is a stud on the back of the stock radio. Take the nut off the back and the 4 screws that hold in the mount under the front lip of the mounting bracket. Then it should slide right out. then you can use the slide in mounting plate for the new head unit as a template to cut out the mount. then mount it back in the car in the stock location.

    Hope that helps a bit.

you dont need any wiring adaptors. these cars only had a power and lighting wire and the speaker wires for the speaker in the dash.

you can use the power wire for the switched wire on a modern stereo and the lighting wire for the dimming feature on some stereos. you will need to add the battery power wire and all the speaker wires.

You need to use the wiring harness that came with the radio, and put all new wires in for the speakers. This will not be a "plug and play" type of thing like it is with new cars.

If you have the radio from a pawn shop and you did not get the wiring diagram, it may be difficult to figure out what wires go where. You may be able to Google the radio name brand and model and find a wiring diagram online.

    Good Luck.

For the power you can just run a wire to the fuse block

you would want to wire it so when you turn off stereo/cd player it'll resume and not restart every time you turn on engine.
i'd put an inline fuse behind the CD player also.
you can get brand new CD players with an iPod/Android input and sometimes also with Bluetooth to stream Pandora or w/e for around 100 if the pawn shop HU doesn't work out.
you also need a good ground that'll rear 12volts
the black wire is typically the ground wire
the power/ignition wire will be either red or yellow depending on brand of headunit

    hello again,

To carry on with the answer I gave to your other post in the "other" section ...

This website is tops for info for car stereo and related stuff ...
    http://www.the12volt.com/

It can help you decipher what you bought. They post charts for most audio gear out there.

To power your stereo, I would use the factory keyed power lead, so that it turns on and off with the ignition. It is likely that there is a "constant" lead, also. That maintains your clock and radio presets. A great place to tap power for that is the cigarette lighter wire, since it is hot 24/7.
