Looks neat! You should orient the key slot vertically inside the steer head so it looks more like the original dividing line. Cool, though!

 

Yep, I will do that, its all just sitting there, nothing is permanent yet.

Yep, will do that, this is just a mock up, to see if I would like it, and I do. Once finished it should look really nice.

How did you disassemble the original cap as it looks to be riveted together?

 

I am using the front grille ornament from my 70 Mav, and attaching it to an aftermarket locking gas cap. The grill ornament does come apart so that makes it a little easier.

 

Nice idea. How are you going to hold it together?

 

I have had good luck with JB Weld, so I will give that a try. 3M panel bond would be another choice, If I can manage it, I want to try a screw of some type as the main connector.
