Where is there a good place to by Maverick parts online. There are so many mustang place but I cant seem to find the maverick places. Please help.
You're here! Well this place and eBay ... You can also try http://www.autokrafters.com and any part that interchanges with a Mustang can be gotten at those Mustang places ...
THere is no Maverick / Comet parts places other than AutoKrafters. But they dont really carry that much. Thats because there is little reproduced for these cars. Your best bet is junkyards, this board, and Ebay.
Thanks guys that helps. But I have another question is it worth it to convert a six cylinder over to a v-8 and what is involved. What rear end is in a six cylinder and is four lug or five lug, disc brakes or not.
JM- From '73 on all Comets and Maverick were 5 lug wheels. IMO it is worth it to swap to a V8. It depends on what you are going to use the car for. I just like a V8, but mine came that way. If the car you have is a 4 lug car-as all 6 cyls. prior to '73, the swap to 5 lug is not mandatory but recommended. As far as engine swaps, the crossmember, motor mounts, adequate radiator and transmission are what you need. Seth
You need to tell us what year car you have. Only 2 rears were ever put in these cars. In the very early 70 production run (often refered to as 69.5) they used the 7.5 rear. Same rear that was used in the Falcon. From 70 to the end in 77, they all had 8" rears. I have never seen a 70 model with anything other than 4 lug. There was a handling package availble with the Grabber but I dont think 5 lug was part of that. from 71 to 73 its anyones guess whether they were 4 or 5 lug. All V8s were 5 but I've seen 6 cylinders with 5 lug also. As Seth said, from 73 on they were all 5 lug. Starting in 74 disc brakes became an option. All disc brakes were 5 lug. Again they were found on 6 cyl cars as well as V8s. Disc brakes were standard on all the 76 and 77cars.
Ok the car I am looking at is a 71 with the straight six. I can get it for $800 w no rust california car. The car runs great and the guy drives it everyday. What do you think?
If it's rust free I highly suggest jumping on it before someone else does. You can't imagine how much money that alone will save you when you get ready to paint that car. Rust repairs are very expensive. Take this from a body shop manager.
I am a Auto Body Tech at a big shop by me. I know how rust is. The only damage to the whole car is the left quarter where the bumper got pushed into it a little bit but otherwise the car is in great shape.
