    Can any one help me with this question/problem. I am building a T bucket, It has a ford small bearing 8 inch rear end. 5 lug. The axles are from a Mav I got from Mike from this forum. The drum brakes and backing plates are 10 X 1.75 from a 73 Mav from E-bay. The drums are new 10 X 1.75 but do not fit. The center hole is too small to fit over the protrusion of the axle. Do they make 10 X 1.75 drums with a larger center hole? If so, from what yr/model ford? Thanks in advance! Gary

    I have learned I need drums from a 74 or later. They are 10 X 1.75, 5 bolt. The center hole measure about 2.75" If anyone has a pair for sale that are useable I would like to hear from them.
    Thanks to all the help guys!!!! :)
    Regards;
    Gary

    I've always thought that the rear drum brakes on Mavericks were 9 or 9.5 inch (???)...

    Folow up to clarify the size.
    The rear drum brakes & backing plates came off a 73 MAV.
    They are 10 X 1.75. Check yours? Maby you could get HD brakes
    and these were an option over smaller ones.

    The 10x1.75 is a rare size.Ford used them on a LOT of diff. cars and trucks from the early 60s to late 70s,incl. Mavs.What Year are the axels (look at part # ) I have 2 part#s to look at- Wagner brand (can be crossed over to other brands)1{BD-60058} 2{BD-60314}.Look at drums for 70 to 73 Mav.w/10" or 74 to 75 Mav.,These drums were on Mustang,Fairlane,Torino,Falcon 8and 9 inch rears.You probly have 74 to 75 axels but that is a guess.Good luck happy hunting.Hope this helps.

    FoMoDave;
    Thanks abunch, I checked these part numbers and found a supplier. Their description is 10 X 1.75 but nothing about the size of the hole. From what Mike told me, this center diameter increased in 74 and the number BD60314 crosses to the later years so these should work. If anyone has a pair for sale that are useable I would like to hear from them. The center hole is about 2.75".
