Hey everyone! Getting started on a new project and thought I'd check in with the experts and some owners. What a better place then a forum specilizing on the car I will be working on. Some history for all ya, I'm a certified welder. Have done some painting and minor bodywork on trucks. I'm much better at the mechanichal side. I have owned mainly Fords all my life with a few exceptions. First car I owned was a 78 Fairmont Futura, 2 door, 302, AT. It was an excelent car and very reliable for a college student and very quick for stock. It won it's share of quarter mile drags and got me home and back many weekends. someday I want to build one again. Recently we (meaning I bought) and my son purchased a weary and worn 77 mav. It needs bodywork and alot of small parts replaced. Engine is not running and half of it was in the trunk. So after some searching I found a 90 grand marquis with a 5.0. I bought the engine, wiring, and transmission for $100 and a case of beer. Currently I have had the AOD trans overhauled ($1500), And am in the process of overhauling the engine. Aside from the machinist doing the heads and block I will be doing everything else assisted by my son. Mostly I've been working on my stable full of Broncos, I own several generations of "fullsize" broncos. Daily driver is a '91 silver anniversary bronco which I've done many mods to. Including the drivetrain from front to rear. I have to ask if anyone else here has put a 5.0 EFI with the AOD trans in a similar car and curious to know how they solved the issues they encountered.
