I've been wanting a maverick/comet for a while now. I happened to find one I couldn't pass up. It's a 72 Comet with 53,000 miles. It was owned by a school teacher that bought it in 74. The interior is in great shape! It has bucket seats with headrests. The interior is light tan and the dash pad is like new with no cracks. The tires on the car were installed in 77 and still look great although I wouldn't want to drive a great distance on them. So far I have removed the grandma hubcabs and put on the small caps with trim rings. That helps a little for now. I also put new valve stem seals on because the old ones had disintegrated and it was blowing some smoke, along with a valve cover gasket and a carb rebuild on the little 200/C4 combo. Now some of the stuff that I believe needs attention. An fm radio!! Some granada disk brakes(stopping reminds me of my 59 GMC pickup), and maybe a replacement for that airplane 2.79 gear(3.25 or 3.40 sound better but I do have a 3.55 in my turbo pinto wagon project that might get swapped for a 4.11 or 4.62). In all I like the little car and hope to get it ready for cruising next summer. An engine swap is planned for the future. Peyton in Ohio
Welcome to the board, Peyton. Sounds like you have a nice Comet to play with. Could you post some pictures of it?

Welcome! There is a lot of maverick/comet folks in Ohio. We are getting together this Sunday at the Golden Corral in Florence, KY. Exit #182 off I-71. Not sure were you are located but if your close enough and can...feel free to swing by. There will be people from Indiana, Ohio and KY. Might not have any mavericks/comets with us (not sure what Lance is driving) but its just a small gathering to fuel our fire during the cold winter months.
