I'm going to be picking up a AOD transmission

Yup, mine is from a 93 E150, and truck AOD's don't have the provision for a speedo gear, you have to change the tail shaft.

Yeah that's a AOD but with the E4 number it's a '84 model, if it's never been rebuilt probably needs gone through...

 

he says it has 80 miles on it. BUT you never know

 

Usually when you rebuild/refreshen a transmission you clean the case........that would raise a "Red Flag" for me.

 

I wonder in what year that was??? Possibly the day after car was driven off the lot???


AODs aren't hard to find, I have five of them laying around here... A fresh rebuild with Lentech valve body is going in my T-Bird and maybe another one with 15K mi in the Comet(no it still isn't tagged)... I dove a '65 Mustang with C4 & 3.00 rear cogs yesterday for several miles at 65-70 MPH and sure missed the O/D...

I have two with high miles(approx 130-140K) but shifted OK that could be bought cheap, too bad you aren't closer...

Ok, now with the extra 000 the patina is right.....................like everyone else has said, rebuild it and put it in.
