A question for one of you guys who has done this modification...

My engine has been out for so long, I don't remember what it looks like around the rag joint and steering area.

I want my steering linkages to be as straight as possible (short steering shaft, long intermediate shaft), for smooth u-joint operation.

With a 5.0 and long tube headers, etc. is there enough clearance to make it pretty straight in that area, or should I let the steering shaft extend a bit to clear stuff?

You need the engine and exhaust in there first before you see how you want to run the steering or you will be going back and doing it again

I was hoping to not do that, but there is no reason I can not.

It would have been nice to be able to get into the engine bay and put the steering all together without everything in the way.

Plenty of room around the headers?

I guess worse case, I can install the header on one side, and measure, or even install the engine.

Getting kinda tired of having the engine out and on the garage floor, might be ready to put it back in soon, anyway...
