Got a flat on the daily driver bring the daughter home from dance. Was on a busy road. Was under the van checking out the spare. Sheriff showed up and told me not to change the tire on a busy road. Told him I already called AAA, he blocked traffic the X came and got the kid. Tow truck showed up, changed the flat and I was off.

EDIT: guess the point I forgot to mention was I just got AAA about 3 months ago.

That's what you pay them for, the cops and the auto club. (y)

I have had AAA for years and I can't think of anything bad to say about their services. It is worth the small yearly fee for all of the stuff they offer and almost better than the towing service is the fact that you can do most of your DMV transactions there.

I have never used them, but my grandmother and her boyfriend flew out a few weekends back and were going to rent a car and drive back to LA through Yuma and San Antonio.

Rental car TRIPLES in price if you drop it off in another state. We did not know that.

So it was going to be $1200 or so to drive back, and they could have flown for less.

Anyway, the boyfriend had AAA and they found them a car, AND hotel for two nights in San Antonio, for $700!!! (South by Southwest weekend, no hotels available in SA by internet)

    That sold them for me.

Too bad I just transferred my home and two daily drives to Texas Farm Bureau and getting a bunch of discounts.
