What sway bars are being used by forum members that changed their stock suspension over to the Mustang II style? I have a 1 inch sway bar original to a Mustang II Cobra II that I bought a few years ago that I figured would simply fit once I install the MII suspension. It turns out that it is about 2 inches too wide from eye to eye to fit the track on a Maverick. The eyelets would have to mount pretty close to where the lower ball joints are so back to the drawing board
Does anyone have a measurement from center of eyelet to center of eyelet? Need to be sure it will fit since I don't have the R & C kit Thanks :Handshake
I found out 2 things - First, just how hard it is to measure across between the ball joints with an engine mounted in the car with a notched out oil pan and a steering rack in the way------------- and no one to help me The second thing I found out is that my Mustang II bar measures 45 inches and an R & C bar that is 43.5 across the eyes will work - it gets the eyelets inside of both lower ball joints with a little room to spare
45 inches just interfered with the insides of the lower ball joints by overlapping the rubber boots. Also the center of the Mustang II bar hung way down low, slightly lower than the cross member. I never researched the MII bar before but the center part of the bar seems like it's designed to clear an oil pan - does a MII bar perhaps mount towards the rear because that would explain it?
