granted it sounds possibly 'picky'...but on a vinyl top, is there any way around having the big seam running the length of the roof!? I'm kicking around the idea of the vinyl top but dang I hate that seam....
Interesting...any idea if it held up fine? The one that goes down the side, I need that trim too if somebody has the pieces
I would say...great I have it on my running boards and in the bed of my truck... I had another brand before and it peeled off...when I took it back the Guy told me to get some flat black paint and touch it up... this is...Line-X also comes in colors...
Line-X will work great, but the key is in the prep. I helped apply the the same spray in bed liner Line-X uses for several years while working at a truck and trailer parts and accessories store. 1. Make sure the paint under it is GOOD! Peeling paint = peeling Line-X. 2. If the paint is fresh, let it gas out before applying the Line-X. Bubbles under the Line-X could form and you could have poor adhesion if the paint is still curing. 3. Kill all rust in the area you will be applying the Line-X to. You wouldn't believe the headaches not doing that can cause! 4. Get rid of all wax and oils in the area to be sprayed. I like the 1 foot rule. If it's within a foot of the application area, it gets degreased and hit with wax remover. 5. Make sure you're happy with the way the bodywork looks BEFORE the liner is applied. Trust me, you're not going to go back and fix something after it gets sprayed without a major headache! Hope this helps, -Scott H.
Liquid Metal was the brand, but both of them are a modified polyurethane compound that comes from the same chemical factory. They're both sprayed at high temp and pressure. If you like your health, you better be wearing a GOOD respirator when spraying either of them! Here's the link to the page of the place I used to work at describing it: (Scroll down to the bottom of the page) http://www.bubbastruckntrailer.com/bed_liners They're both sprayed out of the same exact brand of spray machines around here. Don't tell corporate, but when they (the local Line-X) ran out of chemicals in the middle of a major job and couldn't get a delivery for a couple of days, we sold them some of ours to get them by and no one noticed. At one time, the guy I helped train to spray bed liners was their top spray guy. He left us with no hard feelings to go there because they offered health benefits, where the place I worked at didn't. When you have a wife and two kids, things like that make a world of difference! I hope this answers your questions, if not P.M. me your e-mail address and we'll talk that way instead of taking over the thread. -Scott H.
I get disappointed, when I see a car that I think has a nice top, then it turns out to be bedliner...it's just not like a fine vinyl top. Around here, people have always used stuff like that to hide rust, and poor body work...But to each their own.
