suspension problem

    Has anyone else had a problem with two coils cut off of there springs? every time i hit a bump there is a loud almost bottoming out sound but the cars not THAT low at all. any ideas or has anybody else had a similar problem?

    Are your shocks good. If not this could cause you to bottom out.No seal around the piston cylinder.

    are the bump stops for the upper control arm still there? they are on the piece that surrounds the spring in the fender.

    No problem at all...but they are new springs. Rides like a new car.

    the first thing im gonna do is get some front shocks. Most everything is new in the front since the disc brake conversion a couple months ago.

    put a dab of grease on the bump stop. repeat the noise. and then see if the grease is squished. if so, you are bottoming out.

    okay, thanks for the suggestions guys, I actually haven't really noticed a bump stop in the front end :eek: I'll get it all checked out.

    with out the bump stop, you will get a very harsh bottoming out feel when the control arm hits the cover around the spring.

    I cut 2 coils off a set of new Moog-8304 springs 3 years ago and this is how it looks today.

    not really big bumps at all, even slowly over a speed bump.

    I had a rear shock come off the top mount and it would sometimes sound like it was bottoming out. Drove it like that for almost a year and noticed it finally when I bolted on my rear sway bar.
