I'm in the process of trying to find a 72 Maverick I once owned as a teen ager. I traded it in in 92 for a truck. I don't have any serial or license plate number. If it still exists, I would like to buy it and restore it. It was special. Cinnamon brown with matching interior. Anyone have a suggestion? Carlos National City, CA
I wouldn't even really know where to begin. Maybe you should start a new thread here and explain everything you can remember about the car(the more info the better) including when and where you last saw it. I'm sure other people here will have some better suggestions for you.
and Happy Hunting! as red1972grabber suggested, I would also suggest starting a new thread. Did you trade it at a dealership? Do you remember who you traded with? Maybe your insurance company has the VIN on record still??? If you had a loan on it, maybe your bank has something. My father and I tried the very same thing with a 1972 Gran Torino Sport Fastback that my grandfather bought in '73. Unfortunately, my grandfather never kept anything from the car, and there were only a few very poor pictures of it. we never did find it (probably crushed long ago). Good luck with your search.
from Northeast Pennsylvania Maybe the company that you had it insured with back then might still have a VIN number in it's files - I don't know if the DMV could look up your name and have any of your old VIN numbers on file - I had a friend of mine, years ago who was a police officer, run the VIN of a 73 Duster that I once owned to see if it was still "alive" and found out it wasn't registered in the US Sorry Paul, I didn't see your suggestion of the insurance company
Welcome. I don't have any suggestions, since it's too old for a carfax report. I guess your best bet is to search CL around the state.
To the OP: Do you have any pictures of the car? That may help someone 'remember' if they've seen the car before and might help you track it down. Both the MCG and MCCI clubs have sub-forums on this site here.
I wish I even had pictures. It was just cinnamon brown. The basic 72 Maverick. But the interior had bench seats and they were cloth black and brown weave in the middle and vinyl on the side and middle. Very sharp! I haven't seen any interiors like that.
