    Hey All,
My name is Mike Paredes in San Diego, CA. Recently, my father fixed up his 1970 Maverick Grabber as a gift to my daughter. Last night, as I was filling up her gas tank (like a good dad), my wife and I noticed a fast gas leak coming from the back wheel well on the driver's side. The leak was coming from a rubber gas line (1 of 5) connected to a plastic piece mounted on the inside of the car body. I'm attaching a picture of the piece - no one at the local Mustang shop had any idea what this piece is. I'm hoping that someone on the forum might. Furthermore, I'd like to figure out a way to bypass it if possible/necessary. Please let me know...we want to get this baby back on the road as soon as we can make it safe. Here are the two best shots (ignore the white vacuum connectors as they were my "quick fixes" last night to get the car home):

Thanks in advance for your help with this...Mike

    Craig,
Thanks for your help identifying this part. We spoke to a knowledgable mechanic who walked us through a solution - eventually we plan to bypass this set-up.
    Respectfully,
    Mike

Does anyone know the right way to bypass the setup? x72COMETx is right, this part isn't needed anymore as our Maverick doesn't need to be smogged anymore. There are five lines on this piece and I know that I'll only need three of them. Two carry fuel and one will be necessary to vent as the fuel cap isn't vented (I was told that if I didn't raise a vent line that the fuel tank will collapse). Thanks in advance for your help.

    Thanks Jeff,
I guess I'm still unsure of what to do with the lines that are running to/from the evap system/piece. And I sure would hate to see that original gas cap with the Maverick logo disappear. I'm going to re-read what you sent - this has been a bit frustrating but at least I'm learning some Mav history along the way.
