Well folks, due to another job coming in today, the Stallion project has had the brakes put on it. It's by no means done yet, but I took a few pictures of it anyway before it got parked in the garage next door. It still needs to be block sanded some more and re-buffed.That explains why the fender decals and FORD letters for the hood aren't on it yet. All the windshield trim has been left off untill the glass company comes next week to seal the front and back windshields. The front and rear bumper guards have been sent out for re-chroming and I don't expect them back for a few months. I hate stopping on it now with it being so close to being done, but a paying job is a paying job.
Actually Rick, this car has been a royal pain in the a## to work on. It seemed to fight us every step of the way. Either something wouldn't fit right or something would break and it just kept going like that right up until we pulled it out of the garage ( the battery was dead). When we first got it, it was in such rough shape and such a horrible color ( picture the color of a manila envelope), that we nicknamed it " Ugly". Since it has been so rebellous about everything, we've re-nicknamed it " Rebel". It certainly has lived up to it's new name. I'm thinking it was PO'ed over it's old nickname.
I think it looks better without the bumper gaurds IMHO It don`t matter ifyou use them or not though its still gonna be SWEET:bananaman .
i remember meeting "ugly" for the first time...let me say this... i feel really bad.....this car was far more a gonner than the 75 parts car i sent to maverick heaven. i remember meeting "ugly" for the second time...long before the cosmetics. the car had flow through ventilation... from the ground on up. when we dropped todds' car off dale n jean were showing us the new floor pans. not to mention all the structural stuff he was doing. when we picked up todds' car we almost got sick looking at the hospital like clean in the engine bay. you guys are the best!!!!your passion for your work really shows!!!!!!!!!!can't wait to meet the "reb" in person. gonna put the stars and bars where the front plate goes? y'oughta.
Scott, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. No doubt, there are plenty of folks here who would have labled this car as a parts car and let that be the end of it. Truth be known, the old Rebel runs like new,has never leaked a drop of oil and has been down right dependable. Even though the body and interior were a basket case, we couldn't bare the thought of scrapping it. We knew what it was under all that horrible paint and bondo and were convinced we could ressurrect it back to it's former self. It took about 4 years of working on it when we could and collecting parts we needed to make it presentable again. It has been a heck of a challange and it has tried every nerve we had, but it has been worth it. One things for sure, it's grocery getting days are over. Many thanks to all of you who have helped us with misc. parts and other help you have provided.
Umm, something very familiar bout rebel... Looks fantastic Jean and Dale!! Really glad for you to have her painted. Dan
