front spoiler? Are you still running the big 73 front bumper? If so, I have never seen a front spoiler to fit it. I'd suggest changing to a 72 or earlier bumper and you can get a front spoiler with no problem. I am attaching a photo of a car I built for my son so you can see the one that's readily available.
Air Dam So do I have to buy a front bumper "kit", or just locate one and put it on? What company makes the front air dam? And where can I get one?
Front Spoiler Hey guys, thanks for the nice comments. Actually I got the front spoiler from The Maverick Connection but you can get it from Meier Racing. I think that's probably where The Maverick Connection got his from. ..at least it's the same spoiler. I have purchased several spoilers over the years (had one of my 71 Grabbers for 28 years) and this one seems to be the most common. They aren't the best fit (on the ends) but they have to do and once they are on, nobody really notices. You should be able to find a Meier Racing ad in most any of the Mustang magazines and I think the spoiler sells for about $50. The Maverick Connection sells his for a little more but he has to make a little profit on the resell. Good luck
Ray, What size wheels/tires are you running (front and rear)? Also, can you please measure your ride height on front (from ground to ?refernece point ) and the rear as I will be installing 4 new springs & shocks in a week or so? It'd really help me out. Also, are you satisfied with the ride height or would you rather have it changed (ie., how does the car handle on the street with the set-up you have now)? Thanks in advance, Rick
Paint? I am really impressed with the paint. Who did it? I like the car a lot, and the stripes do set it off. Kudos for building a great ride.
Rick Book, sorry but I can't give you the info you are requesting at this time. My son is off at school in this car right now and won't be back in for about 4 weeks. About the only thing I can tell you for sure is that I am running 75 6 cylinder springs in the front along with the disc brake setup I robbed from the donor car. I just have a set of air shocks on the rear and don't usually let it ride quite that high in the rear but my son was getting ready to go back to school that day and he puts a little extra in it for the trip to keep the qtr panels off the tires. I really need to roll the qtr panels in just a bit but I hate to modify them...maybe one day. The car handles very well on the street when you let it down a bit. I am presently building another 71 Grabber for my youngest son to drive. It will pretty much be identical to the red one here except I will be painting this one 2002 Mustang Chrome Yellow with original the Grabber stripe scheme. I'll send pictures of it as soon as it's completed. And thanks again guys for the compliments on the car. Ray
Thanks for the reply, Ray. I'm sure your kids are the envy of all who see the car(s). What is the color code of the red one? It kinda looks like 1990 Mustang E3 on the computer screen (the reason I ask is because that's the color I intend to paint mine). Good luck with your next Grabber project. Look forward to the pics of it too. Your Long-Lost-Other-Son, Rick
4 leaf I did the 4 leaf conversion and it didn't add much height in the back. The back of mine sits about 1 to 1 and a half inches higher than the front. You can see a pic on the main board under the window louver post. The ride was really stiff for the first 100 miles or so but is now just right. I would recommend it to anyone.
interior Hi Tony, the interior of the car is basically stock with the exception of the seat covers. I had them custom made. I supplied a Maverick logo to a local embroidering shop and she sewed the logos into the black patch with one of those computerized sewing machines and my seat cover guy did the rest. Everything else is pretty much factory red and black to match. The car was originally black outside with red interior so it was pretty easy to keep it color coordinated. Ray
