Took the new comet out to the UTI drags last weekend and won the staff/alum class and then I also won the King of the Hill race. I didn't think this was too bad for the first time out with the delay box and throttle stop turn off. I just used a two step and the car worked great. The E.T. was only 11.90 so I think I am going to take the electronics out and run the no box class next year.I will get started on the new sst maverick now that the comet is ready to race in the mean time. Here is an link to a video of the comet uti put up from the race

In NHRA div1 no electronics means no two steps, no throttle stops, no delay boxes and no trans brakes, wish we could run two steps and or transbrakes but just footbrake racing

Glad to see you're behind the wheel again,Matt! Dang, you didn't waste any time doing it either.Did you have this as a backup car,or was it a project you had to do from ground up? Good luck to you.Maybe I'll see you at the track again.:thumbs2:

It felt like it took forever to get back to racing my own car. I bought this car 5 days after I crashed the other car. The car had the start of a 10 point cage in it, that we had to gusset the corners and add a dash bar to. There was no rearend in it and the front end was drum brakes from 72. The car was sitting in my moms neighbors backyard for about 20 years so it was pretty much a ground up. I use the old 9in and front brakes that were on my old car before I backhalfed it and I used my spare motor and trans from the old car. Then it was just cleaning it up and painting it. I do need to get some wheels for it because I borrowed the ones on the Comet now.

I heard from Gene about your crash and actually saw it on youtube. Glad you are back racing and wish I could have met you when I was at SpeedWorld last weekend with Gene. I understand about getting the prep'd for the track, mine has been off the track most of this and last season....................it's ready to go now................just don't have anywhere I can do some test&tune......................would love to bring it to Phoenix next year if you still have Firebird or SpeedWorld tracks operating.
