i tried cranking my new motor several times but nothing happened it will turn over but it wont fire up do to no fuel getting to the carb the mech pump is sucking it in and pushing it out but for some reason none of it is getting to the carb

Blockage in carb fuel inlet/ fuel filter on backwards. Try filling the float bowl on the carb with fuel from a small container...Sometimes the fuel pump will require a running engine to get a solid prime and flow fuel properly...

If you are getting fuel at the carb inlet, has to be a stuck shut needle valve or maybe the accelerator pump isn't functioning, in that case you'd have no pump shot to prime it for starting...

If there is no fuel at the carb inlet has to be a fuel line issue...

not at the carb inlet, the inlet and outlet at the pump, i took both of those lines off and gas came out so it is pumping it up, how dou you fill an edelbrock without taking it apart?

Carefully pour the fuel through the vent tube into the bowl...It can be a pita.
So fuel is going into and out of the pump...How about the fuel line to the carb???
May be where your bolckage is. Do you have an inline fuel filter between the pump and carb??? You did install it in the correct orientation? (Sorry, gotta ask)...

You can dump a tablespoon or so down each front barrel of the carb, no real difference than three or four shots with the accelerator pump... If the pump doesn't push it up to the carb after the engine tries to start, you may well have a pump problem...

BTW a shot of starting fluid will be easier than messing with feeding gas down the carb... Probably won't catch fire(at least for long) if you have the timing off and it backfires...

If oil pump is primed now, it won't need it again... Basically it's just necessary on a fresh build to be sure all the vitals receive oil as quickly as possible...

are sure the fuel is not getting into the carb?
does fuel squirt out of the squirters right under the choke flap when you move the throttle?
whats the history on this carb? is it new or used?

i have a clear fuel filter(glass spectre filter) an there was no fuel going to it while i was pumping the accelerator and cranking the motor, i rebuilt the carb

i would disconnect the fuel line from the carb and run it to a container like a water bottle and crank the motor to see if the pump will pump fuel all the way to the carb.

if it does and it should you need to be looking at your float adjustments in the carb.
its easy to take the top off of the edelbrock carb in the car so it should not be to big of a problem to do. if there is fuel in the bottom section of the carb then you are getting fuel into it. if not then the problem is with the needle and seats.

just a little...that will be enough to see if it is lack of fuel.
I always have the motor spinning when I squirt it...:yup:
