are borg warner T10 four speeds easy to find (used). also what cars did the come in. theres a ford junkyard about an hour from where I live so i would be getting one out of a donor car when the time comes to look for one.

They used to be very common. I remember in the mid and late 60s the Mustang guys would replace their TopLoaders with T10s because "that's what Shelby used", although Ford designed the stronger TopLoader to replace the T10. Don't know about any specific advantages other than a whole bunch of 1st gear ratios were available.

Good Luck with that. You'd have an easier time finding a Toploader 4 speed, and cars that still have those are extremely hard to come by at this point in time in a junkyard.

They are very rare. I have one that needs a total rebuilt...only parts that don't need replaced is the drain plug and case. A guy who owns the Cobra shop offered me $650 as is without hesitation. Instead of sinking money to rebuild I found a fresh Toploader on Craigslist for $600 w/shifter

Just FYI Summit lists new T10's in their catalog.

I see the Richman Super T-10 for the GM's but not a Ford Borg/Warner T-10

You can use the GM in a Ford with an aftermarket bell (I think) the clutch is no big deal, you'd just use the GM disc and a GM tailshaft yoke. But for what they sell for new, I'd find a used Toploader or buy a new or rebuilt Toploader from David Kee before going with a T-10

With enough pieces it could be made to work, at the least you'd need M/C clutch linkage/pedal/cable and flywheel... Probably need clutch assembly and likely a drive shaft as well... Sooo if you are thinking a weekend bolt in, better forget it...

Well first of all, The Crown Vic (the current line, not the 50's version)didn't appear til the 80's. And I've never seen one with a manual transmission.

Not a unheard of swap, there are probably a half dozen or more over on the Crown Vic board(those are fairly late models with 5/6 speeds)...

I believe '72 was last year a manual was avail from factory on the big Fords, know I've seen a '71 & owned a '70 Galaxie with manual... Those were three on the tree, last year for 4-speed in big Ford was '69...

:D There was at least one 71 Ford with a 4 speed. Watch the Burt Reynolds flick: "White Lightning"

Yeah and if you watch real close, ole Bert shoves it up into park in one of the scenes... I'm doubtin' any of that fancy shifting was made in a '71 Ford...

I know I'm drifting but I've seen a special ordered '70 LTD with 351 & three on the tree(auto was std in the LTD), that was around 1980... It was mentioned on another forum approx a year ago and I said yep I've seen it, I have a pict somewhere the new owner sent, same car...
