    hey i am having a problem starting my car it is a 75 250 6 cyl i have changed the starter the alternator checked the battery changed the ignition switch and still it is not starting i also changed the selenoid.now when i turn the key the selenoid just clicks i hooked up a booster cable and the damn thing got hot and it almost started i tried it again and the booster cables caught on fire HELP i drive my mav everyday and this is gettting to me

    How did you check batt.? It may still be bad but show full charge.

    How are the cables from the battery to the starter? also check connections, and ground cables.

    alll cables are new possitive negitve and starter to selenoid are new as well also changed the selenoid

    Sounds like the starter, or the solenoid switch. Start with the switch, as it is the least expensive. The clicking makes me think it is the switch. Good luck!

    changed the selenoid and the starter new cables everything this is really annoying

    Did you try a new batt.? May have a direct short inside.Sounds like you have replaced everything but the wiring itself.If everything is new including batt. ,must be the wiring somewhere.??? Anyone else have an idea?

    Just because the parts are new, doesn't mean they are good. If you got them from AutoZone or Advance, I would check them out again. I went through 3 or 4 solenoids before I got a good one....at NAPA.
