I was going to try to use the stock ones until I rebuild the motor. One day, I do want a 5 speed or 6 speed when the money is right.
2500 stall shouldnt be a problem on the street depending what rpm you cruise at and your trans cooling system. put an external cooler on just to be safe.
So what cam would you guys recommend I put in? I am looking at putting in 3.55s after wrestling season and getting the heads ported a bit when I can hold down a job in about february. -Todd
I don't mean to sound like a jerk or anything... but you would get better response to your questions if you posted your own threads. I notice that you tend to hi-jack other threads, I have done it a time or two, but it's not really good to do it all the time. Dave
the 351w and the HO's have the same fireing order it was a custom grind cam they have a cam number but the specs can change ..thats what they said ..and for close to $400 bucks hope so
No hard feelings man, i just want ot know what cam would be best for me with a decently noticeable lope. -Todd
Well scott, If the pistons are stock, I would not go above .500 or .520 in lift. Evan this might be to much but I don't know for sure. The XE268 is just slightly above the .500 mark but it works. This is just what I think. Like others say, You can't hace a cam that shakes the car without braking something if the engine is stock.
I'm sorry my fellow members. This is the first & only forum I belong to. Ratio411 thanks for not being a jerk, I didn't know any better. I'm still learning. Sorry Scott also. You guys please forgive me. I have to learn how to post my own threads.
No biggie. At least it was a relatively on topic hijack. Talking about heads, springs, piston to valve clearance, lift, stalls needed with certain cams etc. I think the original thread starter benefited from the conversation. If you would have popped in with "hey guys, what size wheel can I fit on my car?" it may have been different AC
Scott, I think you will be sorely dissappointed if you get a Competition 268 and expect lope, but thats just me. If you were running a roller motor, I would strongly recommend the B-303 cam. It has a CRAZY choppy idle and a moderate lift. Down the road, if you want more lift, toss some 1.7s on the car and have a decent cam. The B-303 cam gets along very well with stock springs and piston to valve clearance is a non-issue. I honestly dont know of a flat tappet cam with comparable specs so I cant recommend one. The others on here who have actually run some of the more aggressive flat tappet grinds will steer you right though. AC
Scott, Ford Racing has their own cams on the web site. Some are roller & some are not. I didn't see to many that seems to be very aggressive. But like Stockhatch said, with a 1.7 rocker they could be better.
