What size is the line nut on the front brakes where it attaches to the rubber line, the steel nut on the steel line side, I have tried two different wrenches both with 3/8 and 7/16 one brand new wrench (thought my old one was bad) and neither one will fit, anybody know? I know you'll prolly think the nut is corroded or rounded but it's not, it looks great.
10mm is between those two sizes. i would doubt its metric but who knows what people may have done in the past.
This may be a dumb shot in the dark, but what brand of wrench do you have? I had a set of "Harbor Fright" (mispelling pun intended) flare nut wrenches that were off just a bit and did the same thing you are describing. The supposed right size 5/16 or 3/8 was too tight to fit. I bought a good set of Craftsman flare nuts wrenches and they fit like a glove. Problem solved.
Mine was 3/8 with a snap on line wrench. Are you using a line wrench? Sometimes a 3/8 open end wont go on cause someone rounded the corners a bit in the past. Like Bryant said a 10mm is slightly larger than a 3/8. It shouldnt be metric though but maybe its your wrenchs that are the issue.
I was about to go there. I have MAC line wrenches. Learned my lesson on the cheaper line wrenches that stretch open.
Oh yea, they work when nothing else does, mostly just picking at you. Too many transmission, power steering, brake, fuel, etc, that I've worked on that someone ruined an end with a set of vice grips. I'd try to file it or metric or something, though you likely won't be able to file it until you get it loose.
Its cool......the only thing they are good for is holding clamps together to get a screw through (on an airplane)!
