    I was using a new stock 3 row....no problems.

this is a 1" 2 row...I have never ran one before so I thought I would try one... I had it built for my car...(bottom outlet on pass side)(burp tube port in top tank)...:yup:

it will work great, I run a Griffin race radiator hand built for my 1970 and all aluminum with 2 rows at 1 1/2 inch core size. with testing it has been proven that 2 large size cores are better then 4 3/8 inch cores as you flow a larger volume of water. my race car 1/4 mile Maverick runs 180 all day at the track even when temps reached 95 in Seattle this year at the Northwest nationals and I only run a single electric fan as a pusher as I didnt have enough room for a puller fan setup that cools better and straight water with Redline water wetter, also I run aluminum heads. Griffin makes radiators for NHRA and NASCAR.

picked the radiator up from powder coating yesterday, it came out great..:thumbs2:
got the plugs and nipple for the radiator, got a new bottom hose. got fresh antifreeze and 2 gals. of distilled water ready to go in...:thumbs2:
cracked the drain last night so it could drain and be ready to remove this morning.
as soon as I finish breakfast and get a nap, I will be ready to start the swap. I should be done after lunch and my afternoon nap...:yup:

You had the radiator powder coated?

    Why?

I would think powdercoating the radiator or parts of the radiator would cause the radiator to retain the heat versus allowing it to disapate (SP).

I might be wrong, but that just seems like what it would do.

actually.. you're right. Unless you use the specialty coatings that are made to dissapate/transfer heat away.. just about any coating will reduce heat transfer.

However.. he has a "well more than good enough rad design for what he's runnin".. and the couple % loss in transfer efficiency shouldn't even be perceivable.

People trade looks for performance all the time and that thing will still look brand spankin new 10 years from now.

Another little known fact.. even polished heads and manifolds(especially those polished inside AND out) disappate heat more slowly due to less surface area achieved after the polishing. I'm a terrible sucker for polished/chromed "race bling" and most other people who look sure do like shiny stuff too. Lately I've been driving with my glass hood off my s10 Blazer for a couple weeks now.. and I finally had to put it back on because of way too much attention. Almost makes me feel famous. lol My kids suck it all right up, though. :)

Let me see if I have this right, wake up as crack of dawn and have breakfast, then take a nap, then install radiator, then lunch, then nap again? Being retired sure is rough.
