A week ago my turn both left and right turn signals quit working so i have been looking at the wiring diagram they are controlled by the key minder switch. I also on a couple of occasions sense the signals quit have gotten a small shock when turning the key off. so im thinking the key minder switch is shorting out. My question is where the switch located and how do you get to it?
I would check your fuse and then the flasher unit to start with for your no turn signal problem. I'm with Craig on the " key minder ", I've never heard of that either! I do know some later model Fords had a buzzer that would come on if you opened the door with the keys in the ignition. I don't know if this is what you're referring to or not? How the key can shock you is really beyond me! Someone may have had this happen to them, so hang in there and I'm sure we all can get this solved!
This is what im looking at on the wiring diagram. after looking at it a little closer I think the key minder switch is referring to the wire. I guess I should start this thread over..LOL Hey guys, my turn signals quit on me, left and right at the same time. any ideas what i should check? the circus is in town so im hoping to hire a "contortionist" to check the fuse fore me because my 300Lb but cant fit up there with out removing 1/2 the interior
I lost mine when the hazard switch broke in the steering column one time. I actually rewired almost the entire turn signal set-up before I found that out. Hope that's not it though. I totally feel you on the contortionist thing though. At 300+ and 6 and a half feet I work my fuse box blind. It's not change 1 fuse its change ALL fuses until I find the one that burnt.
Y'all need to relocate the fuse box like in the Tech article. My fusebox is about even with the steering column.
