Hi everybody! I joined this forum almost 10 years ago when I had my first car, a 1977 Maverick 4 Door. I bought it in 1993 for $100. I eventually put it on the road in 1998 and sold it when I finished college in 2003. Ever since I sold that car, I have wanted another one. My father played a huge role in my interest in cars and Maverick in particular. Dad was diagnosed with cancer this spring and passed away in late June. Over the past 10 years, we would exchange e-mails and pictures of 'dream' Mavericks and 72 Torinos we would find on the Internet. Now that he is gone and I have two of my own children, I wanted to re-kindle the 'Mave-romance', but do it the way I always wanted to--with a REAL '71-'72 Grabber. I purchased a Yellow '71 Grabber from the Mansfield, Ohio Craigslist Ads, and it is currently being transported to my home in NB, Canada. My plan is to keep it original and just enjoy cruising around with the wife and kids. So if anyone sees it going on a flatbed, give a honk and 'Grab' a pic to help it on it's way I also plan on contributing to this awesome forum community and renewing my long-dormant membership with MCCI. I am also starting to digitize all of my 35mm photos of my 1977 4 Door restoration so I can share that with everybody (all of my high school friends made fun of me for taking so many pictures back then, but now who's laughing??). A big thanks to Stefan for getting my username and e-mail stuff all situated again. It feels good to be back!!
Hi Paul ........... back to the forum and the world of "Maverick owners" Sorry about the loss of your Father. I think bringing the tradition back now to your own children is a great thing. Looking forward to seeing the pictures.
Welcome back. That's a nice Grabber and the 4 dr was nice too. The Grabber looks as all it needs is some fuel and go a KRUZIN...
That's the plan! 19,000 original miles! Like any car in the universe, I'm sure it will need TLC along the way--but there's nothing I can't do (or haven't done) IN or WITH a Maverick!
Ok Paul-- I wish we were neighbors; there's a lot I have'nt done to/with my Comet. btw: Wud u happen to be any relation to the wine maker/distributer Paul Masson?
Welcome back Paul. I remember your name and car when I was doing the MCCI membership directory and the newsletter. Yours was one of the first cars featured in FULL COLOR in the MCCI newsletter. Yes....you will have to renew your MCCI membership. Glad to hear you got a REAL Grabber as well. I remember that car being discussed on here. Looks like a nice one.
Mojo: I, too wish I had neighbours that owned Mavericks/Comets! And no, I don't think I'm related to the wine maker, although people always feel compelled to bring me empty bottles of the stuff to display in my garage. Craig: It's been a long time, and yes I remember the joy of seeing the first colour versions of Shorthorns, especially considering my Maverick (along with two others I bought at the time) got 'published'. I tried to find some 'dirt' on the car here, but didn't see anything other than the Craigslist Grabbers thread. Hopefully, all the talk was good?? I have my membership application all filled out, except for the door tag info (forgot to get a picture of that before the car shipped out), but the cheque is almost in the mail!! Thanks for the warm welcome everybody!
back to the forum We tried to put everything on hold until you got back but that only lasted for a few seconds
