Ok on the 351W swaps I believe I have read that header clearance is a problem, so my question is has anyone tried to raise the engine maybe just a tiny bit to help the problem, seems the headers want to hit the shock towers even with the notching done, if it's raised a bit would that help? I ask because I don't know how the 351W fits with the towers notched or if it would help to raise it any at all, I am not that concerned with hood clearance as I have three Grabber hoods and won't hesitate to cut one of them.
That might work but I've never seen a 351 in a mav in person I couldn't tell you. I would be worried about the collector being too close to the body and causing issues there.
351 into a Comet Hello Moneymaker: We've put two 351 blocks into 2 Comets . One with Fuel Injection , and the other with a carb. The 351 Block is Taller , AND Wider thats the problem. You can put headers on these if you're careful and work at it but the Hood to Carb clearance is an issue . A "Scoop" would help in this area. I'm running a scoop on a 74 Comet with a 351 block and theres not a lot of room. I have to run a much thinner breather than I'd like to make everything fit.LOL Cometized
