OK,I know I'm going to get many answers but I have to ask. I'm putting a Tremec 3550 in my 70 and it looks like I can't get the tranny far enough up to so I'm going to have to section the tunnel and add some metal to both sides. My question is what is the proper angle of the tranny tailshaft to the rear end? should they be pointed directly at each other with no angle differnce? Is there a formula or a suggested angle? Thank you for any help.

The smallier the angle the beter, less stress on u joints. If trans is higher than pinion yoke then turn axle housing up towards trans..

I know on my 72 all I had to do was trim the transmission support going over the transmission to get my tremec TKO in. Do you know how much narrower is the 70 tunnel is in comparison too my 72 tunnel?

Also for a transmission mount I modified the AOD mount I had bought from 71gold It put my transmission at the correct height, I just had to clearence the tube with a grinder so it would clear the back housing of the transmission. Dimensionally if you use the Ford racing bellhousing the transmission mount is located the same place as the AOD transmission mount both in the linear dimension and the height is the same between the two in relationship to the output shaft on the transmission..(Hmm almost like they worked with ford on the development of them too put them in mustang R's or something)

I did a thread on it awhile back when I put mine in, but if you have any questions on it let me know maybe I can help you.:thumbs2:

I had to do the same thing to get the T5 in my 70, split open the top of the tunnel and add metal. I have my pinion pointing downward 3* from the tranny 'cause the pinion gear tries to climb the ring gear and raises up when accellerating.
