Engine stand bolts

    I know some of you smart people will know the answer to this off the top of your heads rather than me fumbling around for hours ;)

    So what size/thread bolt do I need to put my 5.0 HO motor on an engine stand:huh:

    I believe they are 7/16 coarse thread and the length will depend on your stand but 3-4" should get it done. You could get them a little long and use washers to take up any space.

    I used ready-rod cut to length and welded nuts on the end with washers, was easier for me then searching for the bolts.

    Been a decade or two but I think I used old head bolts??

    I believe Stephen is correct with the 7/16 coarse thread.
    I would measure the thickness of the arms on the stand and add the length of the spacers then add 1 inch to that number for the length bolt you need.

    I also use head bolts. They are grade 8. Allthread is grade 2. I'm pretty sure it's 7/16-14.

    Yeah, unless it was an empty block only, I would be weary of the all thread...unless it was grade 8 and that stuff is hard to find.
