Well the work i am getting done to it is a full rebuild, hardened input shaft, extra clutch in each pack, increasing oiling to the rear of trans, and a reverse manual valve body, got 3 quotes so far, waiting for 1 more but no word back yet, the first one came in at 1340 + taxes. second came in at 1650, third came in with a 14-1500..he seemed the most knowledgeable as well..what do you think about the prices..good or bad. all prices were without taxes, we have 12% tax here.

Honestly i have no idea.. first engine i've built.

it consists of a 650DP, performer rpm intake, RHS aluminum heads with 180cc runners, scat rods, .30 over KB forged flat tops w/ valve reliefs, Cam is a flat tappet with .523 lift, other stuff as well but thats basically it..and i will be adding a 150 shot NX system.

The real important thing here is your are going to be using NO2/150, what kind of crank are you using...........hope it's not stock!
I would say without your juice you'd be safe at 450 or less, and if that's the case I'd go with Russ and use a PA C4, I've had two of their streeter trans (which is good at 450hp or little above), or although you are in Canada it would be nice to have one built up there rather than down here in the States................................IMHO

I would really like to have one built here..I might just have to suck it up and pay the price to get this thing going...1500+tax is like 1680..then around 450ish for a converter..could probably get the trans built and hopefully work calls me in for more hours than i've been getting and then get the converter. called the one gent with the price of 14-1500 and tried to get a cash deal but he said its just too many parts to hide

I paid $1850 for my c4 rebuild. it has a transgo shift kit in it heavy duty clutches and a 2500 stall converter that also included a new b&M shifter pulled out of the car and installed in the car with new cable everything taxes and all out the door. its built to handle 500 horse came with a 12000 or 12 month warranty. currently I have MAYBE 2 miles on it:D

I thought it was a lot of money but worth it after checking around a little more and finding out that a stock rebuild was around 12-1500 one guy even wanted to charge me $2000 :naughty:

I agree, for that kind of money you should be looking to get some good internals. I know Paul recommended Jay @ Broader some time ago. Several years ago I paid like $1,300 delivered for a loaded C4 with Transbrake and a 4k converter from Redneck Performance athough they are no longer in business.

I don't think you need a trans brake plus that's a couple of hundered bucks, but I'd look for 5 clutch pack in the forward and direct drums, large diameter servo, teflon sealing rings and deep sump oil pan with provision for temp gauge.................................... and at minimum a shift kit. I would think there must be somebody in your area that can or has built some good street/strip transmissions. Don't forget the external oil cooler for the trans......................................this shouldn't cost you too much, maybe a $1k.

I ended up getting a local guy who builds race trannys for people.. Got it all done for 1200. Then got my custom converter for 540 more... Already had a external cooler from my previous set-up.

Sounds like you got a great deal, plus someone close to take it to if you have any issues with it.
