While I was researching forum on tail lights I ran across a pict. from rayzorsharp that showed a set of valve covers with Mavrick on them .Any info on where to get a set of these? Nice job on those lights by the way!! I will be doing same, unless I can find a pair of Bobcat lights.Would like to know more about how you attached that panel.
Thanks for the compliment. The valve covers came from The Maverick Connection when he was selling them on eBay but like the other post said, they are now available from Auto Krafters. The tail light panel is for a 68 Shelby. I had to cut out the holes in the original Maverick panel for the tail lights to fit and also had to flatten the raised portion and then I had to trim the fiberglas Shelby panel quite a bit to get it to fit on top of the original panel. I then bonded the Shelby panel to the metal panel using 3M #8115 panel bonding adhesive. After it set up I had to mold all the edges in with fiberglas and body filler. The tail lights come from a 69, 69, 70, Shelby or 64 T-Bird. It probably took me a total of about 15 hours to get it in primer. I have taken the car to three cruise-ins in the last couple of weeks and people tripping out over it. I put the Cobra snake emblems in place of the Maverick emblems on the front fenders and grille and people are unbelievably walking all around the car once or twice and then get the nerve to ask me what kind of car it is. Of course the people that know Mavericks don't have much problem other than asking me what kind of Maverick it is. I just have a little fun and tell them it's one of the rare Shelby Mavericks from Mexico. I always wanted a Shelby but will never be able to afford one so hell, I just made my own.
I forgot to mention...after the cruise-in I went to last night I was attacked by a 68 Nova that had been eye-ballin my car when we were parked. He had a big hood scoop and pretty radical sounding motor. When I pulled out he followed me for a little ways...then pulled beside me and started goosing the pedal. Big Mistake!!! I pulled him about 5 car lengths before I got off the gas. The he tried to get me up on the highway but I'm not stupid...4:30 gears don't work good on the highway. He left mad. Man, that felt good. I havn't had a car that ran like this for years. I've been too busy building Mavericks for my boys to have time for mine but that's over now.
I just went thru the Auto Krafters '04 catalog and did not see those valvecovers. Is it aval.on line only or maybe you have a part#.I will call them later.Have you posted any pics. of your car? Sounds a lot like what I want to do.
