I've done a search but didn't really come up with a definitive answer? I have plenty of 16ga. sheet metal, would this be strong enough? I want to build a new 351w to replace my time bomb 302. I'm hoping to do it this week since I'm on staycation.

You might measure the thickness through a drilled hole with a L shaped bend on the end of coat hanger wire.

i would take Joe Dirt's advise and run with the 14 gauge. (y)

If you find that the 16 gauge was to light, for some reason, it will cause you one big headache later on to replace it

I used 3/16" plate. Much heavier than most guys. I figured if I was cutting into the structural integrity of the towers, I want to replace it with something as strong, or stronger.

I also used 3/16" plate, for the same reason. I know the shock towers aren't that thick but, they did have some gusseting that I cut out.
