I want to go to a manual transmission. I'd like to have an overdrive one so it would have to be a T5 or a Tremec. I've read that the T5s can't hold alot of power, so that might be a problem. I've heard nothing bad about the Tremecs, but a few have swapped them into Mavericks. I heard they are not hard to put in Mavericks, so I guess its because the Tremec costs alot. Also read about going hydraulic since I don't have a manual in it right now and that the other ways are just time wasted unless it came from the factory like that. If some one could tell some more info thad be great.

How much power you planning on putting through the trans? I have a t5 in my Maverick with 332 horse and 332 foot pounds torque 411 gears and 28x10.50 Mickeys on the back still holding up

320-340 horse and 360-380 foot pounds.
People that have your set up say they blow the trans.

I just might blow it up one day but has not happened yet had a 91 5.0 before with less aggressive tires and it held up to a lot of abuse. That said I do keep a spare trans around.

Anybody? I think I'll go with a TKO because they seem easier to install.
Also what about the hydraulic and what is needed with that?
